The beautiful Strathdon tartan is one of our favourites at Scots Connection. Cradled in the western reaches of Aberdeenshire, this glen is the conduit for the River Don’s waters as they wind their path through the tough grey granite, the foundational stone of this rugged landscape. The tartan mirrors this rough terrain with the use of Blue slate representing the mountain debris, the deep Maroon symbolising the dark heathers in bloom, and the Yellow Brown reflecting the sandy shale exposed by the river’s erosion. The Azure streak signifies the gleam of the metal pikes and Lochaber battle axes wielded by the Men of Lonach during their yearly procession through Strathdon.

This weight of cloth is ideal for kilts, soft furnishings, crafts and upholstery projects.
