Our beautifully crafted Luckenbooth pendant takes the form of two Celtic intertwined hearts surmounted by a crown.

The Luckenbooth has been used as a romantic gift in Scotland for at least four hundred years. The design is said to have been created for the betrothal brooch of Mary Queen of Scots from the fourteen year old Dauphin of France, whom she married in 1558, hence the two hearts surmounted by the royal crown. The name derives from the “locked Booths” near St Giles in Edinburgh where the design was sold for romantic occasions such as engagements and weddings.

The Luckenbooth is also known as a witches or fairies heart and would be worn as a protective talisman to ward off supernatural forces such as the 'evil eye'. The charm would be pinned within the clothing of children to offer protection from evil spirits, deamons and wicked faeries.

This high quality Scottish silver pendant is handcrafted in the beautiful Western Isles of Scotland and is hallmarked at the Edinburgh assay office. Comes boxed with the option of a luxury wooden box.

This stunning Scottish silver Luckenbooth pendant would make a fantastic gift and family heirloom which will be admired and treasured for years to come.
