Celtic Scottish Silver Penannular Brooch

This ancient style of brooch has been used in Scotland since the 8th century. The Picts, Scots and Vikings all used this type of brooch for fastening cloaks, shawls and clothing. Beautiful examples, including those from the St Ninian's Isle Treasure, can be seen at the National Museum of Scotland.
