This quaich is decorated with the Selkirk Grace, an old Scottish thanksgiving which was popularised by Robert Burns. It’s customary for this short grace to be recited, before the meal begins, at Burns suppers throughout the world.

The Selkirk Grace

"Some hae meat and canna eat,
And some wad eat that want it:
But we hae meat and we can eat
And sae the Lord be thankit".

English Translation

"Some have meat and cannot eat,
And some cannot eat that want it;
But we have meat and we can eat
And so the Lord be thanked".

The centre of this shallow quaich features a beautiful Celtic design, around which the inscription reads: "The Selkirk Grace Robert Burns 1759-1796". Celtic knotwork lugs complete this stylish quaich.

This quaich would be perfect for anyone with an interest in Scotland's national bard. Filled with a good single malt on Burns Night it would be ideal for toasting Scotland's favourite son.

Supplied in a satin lined presentation gift box.
